  • How can I open a bank account in Germany?

In order to receive your salary or transfer your rent, you need a current account with a German bank. Many banks presently offer the option of opening an account online. However, you must first be officially registered at a German address and then open an account with a bank of your choice.

  • Do I need health insurance in Germany and how can I get it?

In principle, insurance is compulsory in Germany. This means that everyone living in Germany must have health insurance. You have two options: Statutory health insurance (SHI) and private health insurance (PHI). Most employees in Germany are covered by statutory health insurance. With statutory health insurance you can also include your family members who live in Germany and are not (yet) working in your contract under certain conditions. If you have been granted a visa and are entering Germany, incoming insurance is sufficient. However, you must then switch to German health insurance – our integration team will be glad to advise you on this after your arrival.
